Converting bio-based feedstocks via chemical building blocks into advanced materials for market applications

This program supports the demonstration of large-scale conversion of biomass into specialised advanced materials.

Activities supported

This program supports the demonstration of the conversion of one or more types of biomass into one or more chemical building blocks, such as diacids and diols, targeting a production capacity of 5.000 ton/year. Chemical building blocks used for energy are excluded.

The applicant must be a consortium of at least 3 different unrelated legal entities in 3 different Horizon 2020 affiliated countries.

The Commission considers that proposals requesting a contribution from the EU of up to 30 million would allow this area to be addressed appropriately. Nonetheless, this does not preclude submission and selection of proposals requesting other amounts. Funding rate is 70% for profit seeking organizations and 100% for non-profits.

Upcoming calls

This program will have 1 more call on 2016 September 08 which has a budget of 188.65 million euros that it shares with several other research programs.
