This program supports the development and demonstration of new industrial crop varieties for biomass production.
Activities supported
This program supports the demonstration of new sources of biomass for bio-based industries. This topic focuses on non-food-conflicting biomass production systems:
whose molecular structure or growing conditions are tailored in order to maximise the output of the desired molecules, and/or
that are suitable for cultivation on unused, marginal or contaminated land that is currently not in use. Proposals addressing this point could also contain remediation actions for marginal or contaminated soils in order to convert or return these lands to use for agricultural purposes, and/or
that can be cultivated in novel and highly resource-efficient conditions.
Requirements
The applicant must be a consortium of at least 3 different unrelated legal entities in 3 different Horizon 2020 affiliated countries.
Financing
The Commission considers that proposals requesting a contribution from the EU of up to 15 million would allow this area to be addressed appropriately. Nonetheless, this does not preclude submission and selection of proposals requesting other amounts. Funding rate is 70% for profit seeking organizations and 100% for non-profits.
Upcoming calls
This program will have 1 more call on 2016 September 08 which has a budget of 188.65 million euros that it shares with several other research programs.
